Spindle Introduces Yowza!! Beacon Program for Retailers

Retailers looking to jump into beacon marketing have another option with Spindle’s Yowza!! beacon program, where beacon transmitters allow merchants to provide special offers and media content to in-store shoppers via the customer's mobile phone.

Beacon transmitters allow merchants to communicate directly with consumers in real time via the customer’s mobile device, pushing relevant marketing content such as on-the-spot offers and coupons, as well as informational content such as videos that educate consumers on specific products or services, and updates on loyalty programs and promotions.

“We're extremely excited about the potential of beaconing in retail, restaurants, hospitality and professional services environments, and are eager to help our merchants reap the benefits of this new technology," said Bill Clark, CEO at Spindle. "We have several companies committed to pilots this holiday season, and we are developing strategies with merchants in a selection of service areas.”

According to the company, Spindle will work with individual merchants to establish a customized beaconing strategy. For example, Spindle will help retailers determine the number of beacon transmitters for each location; select hardware, which is priced separately; implement the system; manage the content; and access tutorials on how to effectively leverage an ongoing beacon-driven campaign.

Beacon marketing provides a variety of content for on-site messages, ranging from product-based videos to electronic coupons and corporate messaging. The goal is to promote the level of engagement between merchant and consumer, generate on-site sales through beacon-based messages, and foster long-term relationships. The Yowza!! beacon solution reportedly can be integrated with a merchant's mobile app or loyalty program to add value to existing mobile engagement investments.

The Yowza!! mobile marketing service ranges from $49.99 per month per location to as low as $18 per month for large multi-outlet merchants. The Yowza!! Beacon program is available for an additional $10 per month—plus the cost of transmitters.
