NXD-ID's Smart Wallet Prevents Identity Theft with Year-Long Battery Life

The biometric authentication company NXD-ID, Inc. has announced its upcoming Wocket Smart Wallet will feature a rechargeable battery which can last for over a year before needing a charge. Assuming an average usage of about five payments per day, this battery life rating is more than a hundred times that of any other mobile device currently on the market.

The Wocket is a device that intends to combine anything that a person may carry in their wallet into one secure and easily accessible interface. NXD-ID says it will be able to hold up to 10,000 cards, including credit, debit, ATM, loyalty, gift, ID, membership, insurance, ticket, emergency, medical and business cards. In addition there will be support for storing records and coupons as well as up to 100 voice commands.

Protection against identity theft is provided using a tamper-proof encrypted chip protected by a biometric voice print. The user’s data is stored directly on the device without any contact with an outside server or insecure device such as a connected smartphone, allowing the Wocket to boast of unprecedented security.

Removable from the small device, which features an LCD touch screen with gesture control and optional smartphone connection (which as mentioned above is not for data storage, only usability), is a digital card which can be swiped anywhere traditional magstripe cards are currently accepted. Transactions can also be made with barcode and QR code scanners, and the company plans to add a Bluetooth payment capability in the future.

NXD-ID has stated that users will be warned literally months in advance before the charge is depleted, so only the most careless user would be able to run into an issue. Even so, the company plans to develop a version of the device that is completely battery-less and wearable.
