Square Launches Appointment Booking Functionality

Square, a company that started out offering mobile payment services before expanding into a variety of tools for small businesses through its Square Dashboard, has officially launched its latest program: Square Appointments.

This new offering enables businesses to provide an easy means for customers to book appointments online and provides an option for sending out SMS and/or email reminders. The service is available as a widget to incorporate into businesses’ websites or email signatures. It is intended to combat the numerous other similar programs on the market and integrate seamlessly with Square’s mobile payment platform, Square Register, which is the company’s main selling point with this product.

The program is available to individual users for $30 per month, or $50 per month for businesses that have two to five employees. Larger businesses can pay $90 per month for the unlimited staff option. The company has stated that each employee will have an individual login to the system.

Square developed the program initially as a response to clients who have been having issues with this particular aspect of running a business. Pilot testing among 200 early users yielded positive results; with 72 percent surveyed saying the new system helped them generate additional revenue, 64 percent reporting they saved over 30 minutes per day; and 54 percent claiming 10 percent more appointments per week. Such an enthusiastic response has driven the company to push for more features in different corners of the market in the future.

Square has assured the public that this program will be available to absolutely any client, not just ones that already use any of the company’s other services or intend to in the future. This is a clear indication of a commitment to piercing the small business sector as thoroughly as possibly, which is a necessity considering the wide range of competition the company faces.

Interested parties can sign up for Square Appointments as of now through the company’s website.
