Isis Announces NYC Taxi Tap to Pay Promotion

Isis, the mobile payment solution that was created by AT&T Mobility, T-Mobile and Verizon Wireless, has announced an exclusive offer for American Express users from now until the beginning of June. The offering will give members who use the tap to pay with a registered card in a NYC Yellow Medallion taxi, as much as 50 percent back in statement credits.

The Isis program is just another in what is a growing list of mobile payment solutions available for smartphones. The platform is only gaining popularity in recent years.

Other high-ranking tech companies have been trying to get a foothold in the mobile payment market for a while now, but have mostly only gotten their foot in the door. The Isis mobile wallet solution is currently supported on more than 50 Isis Ready smartphones. Once users have one of these phones from AT&T, T-Mobile or Verizon, they can download the app for free from Google Play.

Once they have the application, customers can use the Isis mobile wallet at hundreds of thousands of merchant locations.

“The Yellow Medallion Taxicab is an enduring part of the New York Cityscape and in celebration of this iconic symbol we are giving New Yorkers 50 percent back on taxi rides when they tap to pay with their registered American Express Cards in the Isis Mobile Wallet,” said Ryan Hughes, senior vice president, banking and business development, Isis. “We are excited to offer this promotion for American Express Card Members and look forward to our work with American Express as we transform the way consumers pay.”
