Mobiquity Extends Strategic Mobile Partnership with Weight Watchers

Weight Watchers is a very popular diet plan, with participants of all ages. The program monitors one’s weight, eating habits, activities and much more to devise the best approach for weight loss or gain and track progress through a customized plan, which requires users to have an account and pay subscription fees. There is an online version available as well as the Weight Watchers Mobile app for iOS and Android devices.

The app gives mobile access to users’ accounts and allows them to track points for food and beverages consumed, for example. This helps members control portions and make healthy habits become second nature while on-the-go. They can also receive nutritional data content to plan their diet and increase the motivation to eat healthier.

In addition to capturing and tracking food choices and behaviors, Weight Watchers Mobile can help people track points, weigh-ins, and more. It also enables them to use Snap & Track to snap a picture of a meal and track it later. In addition, a supplemental Barcode Scanner allows users to import foods directly into the tracker portion of the app.

"Increasing engagement and improving the mobile experience among members is a top priority," said Catherine Ulrich, chief product officer at Weight Watchers. She said the company is committed to offer the mobile solutions their members need to be successful. To do so, they have turned to the mobile engagement provider Mobiquity to simplify the experience. So far, they have been working together in delivering Weight Watcher’s mobile apps that improve engagement.

According to Ulrich, Mobiquity plays an important role in seamlessly bringing concepts from strategy to execution, since 2011. Mobiquity is on board for the next two years as Weight Watchers continues to innovate in mobile. Ulrich explains that Mobiquity’s partnership will help meet its objective: by extending the strategic relationship, it will provide updates for the Weight Watchers tracker app and barcode scanner component for iOS and Android devices with APIs that tie into other Weight Watchers apps, such as Weight Watchers 360°.

In sum, Weight Watchers views mobile as a key part of its member engagement strategy, and over the next two years, Mobiquity will continue to work with the company on mobile solution design and development, as per the Yahoo! post.
