PayPal has already revolutionized the way people receive and process payments. The e-commerce company will now take its services to the next level with the latest chip and PIN payment solution, PayPal Here, which will accept credit cards and debit cards via PIN without requiring the swiping of physical cards.
The payment processing company began as an alternative payment method for eBay users. It allowed payments and money transfers to be made through the Internet without the need to reveal sensitive information such as credit card numbers, billing addresses, and social security numbers to the vendor. As technology began to take hold of the shopping market, the need for traditional paper methods such as checks and money orders became obsolete.
To stay ahead of the game, this new device will allow people to make payments without the need for a computer. “With PayPal here, you have a simple and secure way to accept payments on your mobile device,” said PayPal UK in a new video post. “To make a sale with chip n pin, simply log into the app, enter an amount and tap charge. Ask your customer to insert their credit or debit card firmly in the bottom of the card reader. Now ask your customer to confirm the amount and enter their PIN in the card reader’s key pad.”
In addition, users of PayPal Here will have access to all of the payments they have ever received, issue refunds from the sales history, and send electronic receipts to customers e-mail addresses.
As a pilot program, PayPal will be releasing its new device in the United Kingdom first, offering it to select businesses. After the launch the company plans on bringing it to other areas including the United States.
The application is currently available for download in the UK for iPhone and Android users that have been given access to the service. PayPal is currently taking applications for interested U.S. users on its website.
